Clackamas and Lane Counties Report Vast Improvement of Levy Processing

Bellevue, WA - January, 2001, ASIX, Inc., a Northwest-based software vendor and IT consulting firm, is pleased to announce that Clackamas and Lane counties have reported the successful calculation of Oregon levies and taxes in their first annual use of the integrated Ascend™ and ProVal A & T system. This critical process in the Oregon tax cycle represents a vast improvement from prior years before the installation of Ascend™ and ProVal's CAMA software.

Jim Gangle, Lane County Assessor/Tax Collector, expressed appreciation for Ascend's™ extensive support for the unique requirements for property taxation in Oregon. "The fact that Ascend™ can be configured to meet the requirements of Measure 5, Measure 47/50, urban renewal, and locally approved levies is especially critical," Gangle said. "Our levy and tax calculations have never been more accurate or completed more smoothly under the complexities of measure 47/50. We have learned to take advantage of the features provided by Ascend™ and ProVal."

Ray Erland, Assessor/Tax Collector in Clackamas County, concurred, adding, "ASIX is an especially strong vendor with an excellent product. Our staff continues to be impressed with the support ASIX provides in the complex calculation of levies and property taxes. Their commitment to extending Ascend™ to meet new requirements in Oregon is a major benefit for us." Erland also noted that Ascend's™ design has supported Clackamas County's technology direction, enabling the County to take advantage of lower cost computing hardware in place of mainframe systems. "By dividing our processing load among PC's we're able to complete the levy calculation process in record time," Erland said.

The fully integrated Ascend™ system supports not only levy and tax calculations, but also performs bill preparation, revenue collection, distribution to taxing authorities and an interface to counties' accounting systems. Ascend™, in conjunction with ProVal's CAMA software, provides a comprehensive solution for property tax administration in Oregon.
