Kent County, Michigan, selects Ascend™ Property Assessment and Tax Adminstration Software

Bellevue, WA - April, 2001– -ASIX, Inc., as part of a subcontractor agreement with Convergent Group of Denver, Colorado, has announced that it has reached final agreement with Kent County, Michigan to implement Ascend™ as a replacement for the County's aging Assessment & Taxation System. Convergent Group is prime contractor for the project to implement a new integrated property tax system to meet the needs not only of the County, but also the 35 cities, townships, and villages it serves. The new technology will provide more efficient delivery of critical land records services and more customer-focused interaction between citizens, businesses and local government.

According to Al Vanderberg, Assistant County Administrator, "It was time. Our existing system is outdated and does not have the capability to adapt to our increased and changing requirements. Ascend was the product that gave us the highest confidence that it could accommodate our needs and allow us to retire our old M-204 system with a minimum of disruption to our customers."

Ascend™ will improve the automated processing for valuation notices, the levy process, exemption processing, property tax calculation, as well as bill preparation, payment processing, and cash management. It will streamline the workflow in both the Assessor and Tax Collector's offices and will ultimately interface with the County's financial management system.

"We are pleased to have Kent County join the family of Ascend™ customers," said Kurt Wagner, ASIX President and CEO. "It is always a challenge to bring on the first customer in a new state, particularly when there are so many stakeholders"; referring to the many cities and townships that Kent County provides service to. "We believe that the County has strong support, which is critical in order for ASIX to continue our unblemished record of successful Ascend implementations.".
