January, 2000Ascend™ Customers Report Accelerated Tax ProcessingBellevue, WA - January 17, 2000 -ASIX, Inc., a Northwest-based software vendor and information technology consulting firm, is pleased to note that customers using its Ascend™ property tax software are reporting faster than ever processing of tax payments and calculation of taxes in Oregon and Washington. In Clackamas County, Oregon, Assessor Ray Erland reported to The (Portland) Oregonian that Ascend™ "is passing on revenues to the county's 125 taxing districts in record time. 'We've posted and deposited $255 million dollars of revenue, and it is ready for distribution…This is as fast as we've ever processed the tax roll.'" In Spokane County, Washington, automated processing of tax payments from mortgage companies and individual property owners has gone faster than ever before according to Bob Wrigley, Deputy County Treasurer. Wrigley reports that the accelerated processing of second half tax payments for 1999 is due to a combination of factors. "The mortgage companies were able to get the information to us more quickly than in past years. That, combined with Ascend's™ handling of payments has meant that we were able to transfer revenue to the taxing districts in record time." Ascend™ is also accelerating calculation of levies and taxes for 2000
in Spokane County. John Sweetman, Deputy Assessor reports that calculation
of levies for 2000 is "far ahead of last year's pace and on schedule."
